Outdoor Living in Cinco Ranch II – Katy

This outdoor living space was built so the customer would have enough room to enjoy their backyard. Their home backs up to water which provides the perfect backdrop. They wanted an outdoor kitchen and a fireplace.

This shows the backyard that desperately needed updating.

Before
Here is the home before we added on. There was an existing small patio – only about 275 SF. It just did not provide the amount of space the homeowner needed.
Expanded Patio Area
We added an additional 352 SF to the original patio cover to give them over 600 SF of entertaining space. We built a hip roof with an added smaller open gable. This cover allows for natural light to continue to come through the high living room windows.

Outdoor Kitchen
The outdoor kitchen is located near the back door for ease of transferring kitchen items out to the grill. This simple L-shaped kitchen has a grill, storage area and a fridge. There is plenty of counter space to prepare and serve the food. The raised bar top provides extra seating.

Warm Up by the Fire
The fireplace was placed in the corner next to the home because we did not want to take away from the view to the back yard. It creates a great place off to the side to sit and warm up by the fire.
Details, Details, Details…
The flooring is a travertine tile in a Versailles pattern. The ceiling is a stained tongue and groove with the beams painted to match the home. The columns have brick bases that match the home and for both the kitchen and the fireplace we used a stone that was complimentary to the brick on the home.
